Year End Trip 2005 (Day 8):: Yunnan 云南

Leaping Tiger Gorge 虎跳峡 – Merry Chirstmas!

The final day of our Shangrila trip. My tummy was still in a bad state. MC and HJ still had tummy ache too. We were going to the Middle Leaping Tiger Gorge (all in all, there were 3 sections, top, middle and bottom). After lunch, which we did not eat very much again, we began our descent. It was about 2 hours before we reached the bottom of the gorge and were standing on top of a boulder right beside the river. I was way too tired to take any pictures, and most photos were taken by Huijing.

We later climbed back up by another path. It was damn tiring. There was this sky ladder that was supposed to allow quicker access to the top, but it was so tiring. Halfway up the ladder, my hands went weak and I seriously entertained the thought of not moving, but the descent was just as long. Hence, with a grit of my teeth I continued the ascent. We took about 3 and half hours to make the ascent. It was definitely very very tiring. I think it was one of the worst state that anyone had ever seen me in. (“,)

Back to Lijiang

After that, we made our way back to Lijiang. I am going to complain again. On the trip back, my tummy was so painful due to gas, or whatever. I was not able to sleep and I kept hearing the “fatter” dong bei gal talking and talking and talking. I think throughout the entire 4 hours or more of travelling, she talked continuously. The other lady had a softer voice and therefore was not as ‘irritating’! Back at Lijiang, the driver ang guide sent me to the nearby hospital as they convinced me that it was better that I went to see a doctor and get dripped. The hospital experience was not fun and thanks to MC and HJ for being there to assist. Finally, after many counters, payments and much waiting, I got my medicine and 3 packets of drip. I sat in that cold cold hospital room for 3 hours (with other patients) trying to sleep and also trying to watch bad TV shows on the television that they kept on with tremendously loud volume. Sighs! Hospitals in China just could not be compared to Singapore General Hospital or any hospital in Singapore for that matters!
