Year End Trip 2005 (Day 15):: Guangzhou 广州

Guangzhou 广州 – Shopping

Early morning, we started of the year with a full body massage. Then we dropped off at San Yuan Li 三元里, Gui Hua Lou 桂花楼 to shop around. This was the stretch of road that had all the leather wholesaler. The things here were CHEAP! I brought us to a wallet shop that my mum had went to the last time and we purchased like over 30 wallets/purses from them. MC was on a shopping streak! With the price of the purse only at RMB 17, he was super tempted. Watching the expression on his face as he shop was priceless. I whispered to HJ that he was resembling a little bit like my mum when she shopped. Just show him something nice and he would say, ‘Nice! Nice! I want one!’ Ha ha!(Sorry for exposing you!) In addition to wallets, we also bought a whole lot of Mont Blanc pens which were all very nice looking and nice to write with. We eventually bought everything we wanted from there and decided to look for food. Wanted to eat dim sum but the shop that I ate before with my mum was not there anymore. So, we called for the driver and went to Hai Zhu Square 海珠广场 instead and ate at a nearby stall that sold Fish Skin Dumpling 鱼皮饺 Noodles, a stall called Wei Ran Xiang 味然香.

Hai Zhu Square was huge and sold many things. In fact, I think it sold everything. You have to be there to believe it. From furniture, to display items, to cosmetics, to decorative items, to wallets, to perfume, it had everything you could think of. This was definitely a good place for people to buy stock and return back to their country to sell and earn money.

Dinner was at a Seafood Place called 黄沙海鲜 Huang Sha. This was a port and a wholesale market of all kinds of seafood. We walked around the market and saw many interesting things. The meal was good, most notable was the sea snails and the Liu3 Ha1 (some kind of prawns).
