Guilin æ¡‚æž—
After 20 hours of train ride, we reached Guilin. We had hard bed and the top bed was really cramped. Imagine me crouched on the bed sandwiched between the bed and the ceiling of the train.
We arrived at the North station of Guilin and took a bus (route 2 and then switched to 100) to go to the train station where we were going to find the Hostel to stay in. It was an interesting topless bus!
The hostel seemed a little expensive, but it was very nice indeed. Fortunately, there was this auntie who approached us and asked if we wanted accommodation. We followed her to a hotel (Loud Speaker TV Hotel) and found the place quite decent for RMB 100 a night. We stayed there. We got our laundry done, cleaned up, and then went in search of food. We were hungry, after 5 to 6 days of not eating and diarrhoea. We went to a nearby stall that was recommended by the aunties at the hotel called Old Cheng Ji è€æ‰¿è®°, if I remember correctly, for Guiling Rice Noodles 桂林米粉. It cost only RMB 2 for the soup version (comes either in beef or pork stock) and RMB 4 for the fried version. mc and i both had both versions!
must say that we were initially very apprenhensive of the stall, because it was a road side stall and there was even a rooster walking around the stall. After our encounter with ‘bad’ food, we were scared! Nonetheless, we were glad we tried it, because it was good!
Massage, Business Case and McDonalds
We walked to the city centre and found a place to pamper ourselves. We had a foot massage. Not the best, but it was soothing and relaxing nonetheless after so many days of travelling. After which, we went into a internet bar to do our business case. MC went off earlier to do his back at the hotel, but ended up shopping along this long stretch of night market that stretched for kilometres. HJ and I went to macs after our work and I had my Fillet o Fish meal after many many days of yearning! Yum! Yum! We also went to the night market, but did not stay too long. Reached back to the hotel only slightly later than MC. Ironic, hor?!
