Early morning
Woke up early in the morning to go to the Shanghai Tourist Center (上海旅游集散ä¸å¿ƒ) at Shanghai Sports Stadium (上海体育馆). It was highly amusing. We were supposed to wait for Fionna at the Zhong Shan Train Station, but we left on our own, because I wasn’t sure if we were meeting her and she did not pick up her phone. After that, we waited for her at Caoxi Station in KFC, but then she had made her way to the Tourist Center herself. So, we both “dua” each other the whole morning!
Managed to Return 2 tickets (only charge 10% admin fee) for Lee Tong and Li Min who had last minute decided not to go. Edwin Koh was quite amusing in that he suddenly decided to refund the tickets also, but was persuaded by Shuhui and Meiqing not too.
Arriving in Tong Li
到达åŒé‡Œ
We sat on our coach, and made our way out of Shanghai. The ride there was approximately 1 hour 25 mins. We arrived at some secluded place where we were supposed to take a boat ride to a small island to visit a Temple.
Our Coach and the Boat
A quick tour of the place and some silly pictures, and we left the island and went back to main land. Food! Yups, that was what everyone was thinking when we went ashore and the auntie selling Sweet Potato knew! She is so smart and with her very interesting contraption for roasting the potatoes, we were all enchanted.
Arriving at Tong Li Town
Everyone ate something! So, I decided to get something to eat as well!
Tong Li town was not that big, but it wasn’t small either. Following the map, we decided to go to as many places as possible (though eventually, we did not.) The shops all over town were mostly selling the same things. Local products, knitted shoes, old Chinese stuff, paintings, embroidery, etc. Not to say that the things are not nice, but its not refreshing anymore.
At which point, I was really very hungry! Only had a piece of You Tiao for the entire morning and by 3 pm, I was famished! The rest of the people were too slow, whether admiring the architecture or trying in vain to read the many chinese words on display in the museums. Fionna and I decided to move on. Faster complete the attractions and then ‘hunt’ for food!
Reflect and Reflection Garden (退æ€å›)
The final garden to visit. It was quite like any garden till I saw …
It was Meiqing dressing up as a ‘Ge Ge’. I was wondering how come got people walking aroung like that, with hair tied up behind and even carrying a bag. Then they suddenly started speaking English! Shuhui! Meiqing!
China Sex Museum (ä¸å›½æ€§æ–‡åŒ–åšç‰©é™¢)
According to Huijing, this was the ‘highlight’ of the Tong Li trip. It showcased numerous artifacts that were related to sex, depicted sex, etc. Quite an eye opener! Can’t take alot of pictures inside the museum. But here are a few that were public.
Interestingly, this museum was held inside the old Women’s School … hmm …
