We woke up early and packed our stuff and met our Tour Guide @ the Hostel. The tour guide was calle Jiao Qing (焦庆) or Xiao Jiao (å°ç„¦) or Ah Qing (阿庆) since we were all around the same age and calling Xiao Jiao seems weird. So, our journey begins. We were in a 9 seater mini van. Not the most comfortable of vehicle to be in, but still alright. The first stop point for the journey …
The place to ‘sing song’ – that is what the locals call going to the toilet and its called a 5-star toilet becuase you have to pay 50 cents to use the toilet. Not that the charge for the toilets garantees a good toilet, but its more of like a standardization of the charges for the toilet usage.
Lunch @ Gui Bin Lou Jiu Dian (贵宾楼酒店), also the place we would be staying on the 5 night. Not a bad lunch, the place was rather quiet and the service was not bad too. 2nd stop of the journey – again a 5 star toilet and this time there were more interesting things to look at such as Mao Niu (牦牛) and camels.
En route, we passed quite a number of small towns in the Aba zhou. Aba Zhou conprises of 4 different kinds of people – Zang (臧), Qiang (羌), Han (汉), Hui (回). The people here are quite poor and they grow corn and potato as a means of living and only because of tourism have they been able to slowly upgrade themselves.
We next stop at a temple at Chuan Zhu Si (å·ä¸»å¯º). It was a tibetan temple, though I think its kind of fake cos’ of tourism. That’s the implications of developing a place for tourism. The original culture will eventually be changed and modified.
This was the little shop that mq and I bought our shawl which was very good to use. Felt nice to the touch and warm in the cold.
We finally reached our hotel at Jiu Zhai Gou in the evening around 6 pm. After dinner, we went to shop around the area. Went to try the foot massage at the hotel afterwhich … and one word of caution … the massage at the Hotel SUCKS!!! Do not try it and waste your money! Trust me on this! Finally it was off to bed after that to rest for the next day which should be quite exciting!!!
