Bangkok Stop Over (9 – 11 Jan 2006)

It was the end of the entire 1 year overseas for me.

The return trip from Shanghai to Singapore had a stop over at Bangkok, Thailand, and we decided to stay over for 2 days in Bangkok.

Left my home for almost 1 year at 大家源 in Shanghai with Fionna and Min Chuan and headed to Pudong International Airport. The picture shows my neighbour, Lu Ahyi and the landlord.

Farewell, Shanghai

Bye bye, Shanghai!

Shanghai to Bangkok

The plane ride to Thailand was mundane and we finally arrived in hot and humid Bangkok. We managed to check our ‘heavy’ luggages into the ‘store’ and headed out in search of the hotel.

Bangkok Airport

OMG!

No No Hotel

The recommended hotel from the other people who had stopped over a couple of days earlier was hideous! Remember the sign, and avoid it! I saw a cockroach scurry across the room, immediately after opening the door! eeks!

We headed out after leaving our luggage there and went in search of food, massage, excitement and another hotel. We found food, massage and our other hotel. The new hotel was located somewhere near Chinatown.

We had quite a nice Thai massage that night, with the full works of aroma oil. It was not bad after the full day of travelling and battling of very heavy luggage.

Locust

Here’s locust … deep fried, crunch, but seriously tasteless lah. I do hope it was clean, but then, I did not get any tummy problems, so I guess it was fine.

Next morning, we headed out relatively early, ate our breakfast at the market nearby, checked out of the indecent hotel and went to the hotel we found the night before. For a few hundred baht more, the standard was indeed worlds apart. Well, we got ‘fussy’ people, so got to accommodate … hahaha!!!

We had bird’s nest that morning. Rather cheap one, compared to the REAL THING we had at night. My first time I had 血燕, bird’s nest where the colour is red because of the blood the swallow had coughed out while spitting out saliva to make it’s nest. Hmm .. ok, too much detail. No picture of that, though, only the cheap one!

Shopping at various markets and shopping malls. Nothing was impressive … not after shopping i China, where things were so much cheaper.

Someone got bored and tired with all the shopping, haha!

Bored!

At night, mq went to meet his friend at the night market and left the 2 of us to circle round the place for ages waiting for him to finish chit chatting. Anyway, it appeared that my phone was not roaming very well, and could not receive messages properly, causing all the communications problem and unnecessary leg stress. haha!

Night Market

Had our final supper for the night and headed back to the hotel to zzz … or tried too … haha … it was a mess and ‘play’ until so late … until I also buay tahan need to sleep liao …
Early next morning again, we went out to shop around, but had to leave early to ensure that we were not caught in any traffic when we headed to the airport.

Hmm … flight delayed! o well … hung around at the airport, someone was feeling ill, i was feeling bored.

Ill?!

My luggage is there … I can see my green suitcase!

Finally on our way back.
